80. Again.

Last year, in 2017, after celebrating my birthday, I had a sudden epiphany.

I’m fat.

I had been overweight for past 10 – 12 years and that was not for any medical condition, but because I had always been a laid back, eating everything, chilled out guy who wanted 16-pack abs but never did anything for that.

It’s not like I never knew and became a flabby human overnight, but I believe I realized that it was ‘now or nothing’ sort of thing. So, I did what a sane person would do and went to a trainer for guidance on nutrition and workout.

I was working out on-n-off for about three years but was never committed. ‘I’d commit my 100%’, I told the trainer.

He asked me for my goal and I said, ‘I want to lose 10 kgs in 60 odd days’. It was 19th May 2017 and I weighed 80 kgs. He promised me nothing but gave me a diet and workout with instructions of follow-up (as it was an online coaching rather than personal training).

The mission began and I was all sailing on the tunes of Rocky. I committed to the goal, never skipped any workout and ate clean throughout. On the 60th day, I weighed 72 kg. Pretty impressive for a guy who was never able to go below 76 kgs.

Well, the momentum continued and I kept the spirit alive for 90 days. I managed to reach 71 kg.

Fast forward, the year is 2018 and I’m back at 80 kg. I know the ‘muscle’ share in the overall weight right now is more than last year, but still, I know I could’ve done better.

So, where did I fail? One thing – Eating clean.

I spend 2 – 2.5 hours daily on the workout and I love it, that is not a problem. The major hiccup is maintaining the clean diet. Weddings, birthdays, cheat days, one shitty sweet here, one fucking brownie there, the list goes on.

What now? I don’t know. I’m super pumped up to start the last year’s routine again and writing this blog in that streak. Let’s see how that goes.
